The word Hemerocallis is derived from two Greek words meaning "beauty" and "day," referring to the fact that each flower lasts only one day. To make up for this, there are many flower buds on each daylily flower stalk, and many stalks in each clump of plants, so, the flowering period of a clump is usually several weeks long. And, many cultivars are rebloomers, featuring more than one flowering period each season.
All of our daylily plants require full sun and can be planted anytime that the ground is not frozen. We ship blooming size plants, meaning you should see blooms their first year. All plants are bareroot, with 2-3 or more fan divisions, unless they are indicated as potted. Few online retailers can match the generous size of our plants. When you buy daylilies from us, you can rest assured you're getting a premium product.
We pot all of our newer daylily introductions in a 3" by 3" by 3.5" deep pots and ship them in a protected sleeve. Potted plants that you buy from us are usually single fans about the size of your thumb or two smaller fans the size of your little finger. This is the same size pot we use for our field planting and have over 90% bloom, and the plants grow very quickly because of all the hair roots in the pot.
